BLAKE SUPPORT THE PURPLE PINKY CAMPAIGN IN FREE CONCERT
SUNDAY 10 JULY, 2011 – VICTORIA PARK, HAYWARDS HEATH RH16 4LY
The hugely successful vocal quartet Blake will headline the Purple Pinky Picnic Free concert in Victoria Park this Sunday 10 July. The park will be hosting a day full of music from 12.30pm until 10pm for the community of Mid Sussex in aid of the Purple Pinky Campaign to eradicate polio worldwide. The show is supported by generous sponsorship of Newick based The French Group, celebrating their 40th anniversary this year.
Everyone is invited to Sunday’s free concert, but please give generously to the Purple Pinky campaign and come wearing purple. What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon then listening to the amazing talent of our local artists and for the children a mini fun fair, face painting and circus skills workshop.
The day opens at 12.30pm with Churches Together in Haywards Heath performing a Songs of Praise to include such well known hymns as Praise, my Soul, the King of Heaven, Amazing grace and Love Divine, all Loves Excelling.
The afternoon will have a mixture of classic and pop choirs, artists and musicians. Solo artists Lucy Songi and Jenny Dee will perform a mixture of jazz classics and contemporary songs.
Theatre group Angel Productions will showcase their forthcoming Simply More Glee featuring all the favourite songs from the hit TV show Glee. So whatever type of gleek you are this is a show you will not want to miss!!!!
Mid Sussex Brass Band strike out with traditional British music including the popular Sussex by the Sea. Summer songs from Jazz band Borderline Jazz and entering the early evening Lady Marmalade will have you up dancing.
The popular 150-strong In Choir will have you singing with their repertoire ranging from 60s pop to hits of the noughties with soul and disco and modern musical songs thrown in for good measure.
Ending on a high note Blake’s live show will feature new songs from their 4th album, along with the most popular songs from their previous 3 albums, including Nessun Dorma, Bring Him Home, Hallelujah, Chasing Cars plus many more; creating a spectacular 2 hour show with beautiful lighting, stunning a cappella moments and of course the Blake boys’ legendary sense of humour.
The concert completes 5 days of Purple Pinky mania with Mamma Mia Film Night on Thursday 7, The Stars from The Commitments Concert on Friday 8 and singing sensation Katherine Jenkins in concert on Saturday 9. Children from across Haywards Heath are supporting the campaign by wearing purple to school and having their fingers painted the signature colour. Pupils from Blackthorns, Heyworth, Cuckfield Holy Trinity, St Josephs, St Wilfrids, Bolnore, Lindfield, Harlands and Northland Woods are getting involved – and locals are invited to join them by visiting nail painting stalls at Southdowns Nursery, Hassocks, The Orchards Haywards Heath or Hairsmiths, Cuckfield on Friday. Anything purple you buy from Rushfields Nursery during this period you will be donating to the purple pinky campaign.
