KATHERINE JENKINS SATURDAY 9 JULY, 2011 – VICTORIA PARK, HAYWARDS HEATH RH16 4LY One of the world’s greatest singers, Katherine Jenkins, is returning to Haywards Heath for its biggest ever concert. She confirmed to It’s Magic that she would be thrilled to return for a 5th performance on Saturday 9 July, 2011 at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath. The National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anthony Inglis will accompany Katherine Jenkins. Conductor Anthony Inglis has been described by the press as ‘one of Britain’s most popular conductors’. She will be joined by tenor Andrew Rees, recently described as ‘an exciting tenor with voice to burnish gold’. Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins has wowed millions of fans in a glittering worldwide career. And that career is still growing in popularity. Katherine has global record sales of more than three million. Her first album, ‘Premiere’, made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date and she had two number one albums in the same year. Katherine’s sparkling personality has made her a firm favourite wherever she performs, be it Westminster Cathedral, the Millennium Stadium or Sydney Opera House. Her most notable renditions have included 'Hallelujah', 'Time To Say Goodbye' and 'Bring Me To Life'. In 2010 the welsh songstress, was star judge of ITV’s Popstar to Operastar and presenter of the BBC’s ‘The Week We Went to War’ series, she also appeared in the Christmas Day special edition of Dr Who. MUSIC & DANCE ON BROADWAY – Spring Bank Holiday Sunday 29 May, 2011 Music & Dance on Broadway, a street music festival for Haywards Heath , is being held on The Broadway, Haywards Heath on Sunday 29 May, 2011 from 11am in the morning through ‘til 10pm at night. Music & Dance on Broadway is set to be one of the most vibrant ever music events in Mid Sussex, with a host of talented artists taking part in a diverse and entertaining programme of music and dance. With the focus on music and dance from a range of different cultures the Street Festival will be bursting with energy, flamboyant dance and great music. Music and Dance will cater for a wide range of tastes from Irish to Latin, Greek to Morris, Zumba to Street, Belly dancing to Salsa & Ballroom to Flamenco. The dancers will provide awe inspiring displays and will invite you to take part. There will though be plenty of time to relax and meet up with friends and family, the bars will spill out on to the streets with tables and chairs for you to chill out and soak up the atmosphere. The finest section of food and drink will be available throughout the event. Children are catered for with puppet shows, juggling shows, balloon animal magic and fire show. They too can take part, learn how to street dance or be part of the circus skill workshop and for 11’s and under admission is FREE. As the sun goes down you won’t be able to leave, the pace will hot up as the bands go from Latino to Rock and Jazz to Pop. It’s Magic Events supported by Haywards Heath Rotary and Rotary District 1250 which encompasses an area from Seaford to Chichester and north to Leatherhead will be supporting the Purple Pinky Campaign by Going Purple from Wednesday 6 July through to Sunday 10 July, 2011. Money raised will go towards the $200 million being raised by Rotary International to ensure polio is eradicated forever. Support has come from Mid Sussex District Council & Haywards Heath Town Council, local schools and businesses. Five days in July from 6th until 10th have been set aside to Go Purple. Wednesday 6th July Wear it Wednesday. Wear a badge, a hat, a t-shirt anything purple. Children will be going to school in purple, commuters will be dressed in purple, support the cause get your company involved, raise money by wearing purple. Thursday 7th July Think about it Thursday. Join with friends and family at Victoria Park for a viewing of Mama Mia described as absolutely amazing...camp, funny, tearful at times, joyous film – don’t forget to wear purple. Friday 8th July Finger Friday. Nail bars will be popping up all over the place to paint your nails purple. In Victoria Park at 12 noon Toddlers will be entertained by puppet shows and junk modelling, Party in the Park that evening with The Stars from The Commitments, all the soul classics from The Commitments movie that can be heard live! Fingers need to be purple. Saturday 9th July Celebrate Saturday with the international star Katherine Jenkins accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra and joined by tenor Andrew Rees. Dress purple. Sunday 10th July Purple Pinky Picnic Singalong. Victoria Park will host the Big Sing from churches, to schools, choirs to well known stars. Picnic needs to be purple. The Four Tops and The Temptations have between them two of the longest and most distinguished careers to date in popular music, going back to 1954 when the ‘Tops’ performed at a high school graduation party and, until recently, still consisting of the original four members. In the early 1960’s the ‘Tops’ teamed up with Berry Gordy Jnr., the boss of Tamla Motown Records, and also the home of The Temptations. The rest, as they say, is ‘History’.
