SCHOOLGIRL FARYL TO PERFORM IN HAYWARDS HEATH THIS SUMMER
SATURDAY 11 JULY, 2009 – VICTORIA PARK, HAYWARDS HEATH RH16 4LY
Tim French of It’s Magic Promotions is delighted with the news that Faryl Smith will be the special guest at this year’s It’s Magic Katherine Jenkins Summer Concert to be held in Victoria Park, Haywards Heath on Saturday 11 July, 2009.
Last year Faryl Smith was an unknown schoolgirl, now after a spellbinding appearance on Britain's Got Talent, she has a multi-million pound record deal and has just released her debut album, Faryl.
The young mezzo-soprano from Kettering, Northants left the judges, including the often critical Simon Cowell, speechless with her performances of the hymns Amazing Grace and Ave Maria.
Less than one year on and Faryl, now 13, prepares to take on the classical world with an ever increasing army of celebrity fans ready to sing with the young mezzo-soprano. The young star, who is being mentored by the Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins, is said to count Placido Domingo and Leslie Garrett among her fans.
When it came to the record companies and signing, it was a big deal for us," Faryl says. "We chose Universal Classics and Jazz because I want to stay classical until I am older, and also Katherine Jenkins, who is my idol, was signed to them at the time and I wanted to follow in her footsteps.”
On the first day of release the album, on presales alone, occupies the classical number one spot and this, it is believed, will be the start of something big for the Kettering schoolgirl. It is rumored that Faryl will earn in excess of £20million before the age of 20 and could become the most successful classical music star since Pavarotti, it has been claimed.
As a result Faryl is, in her own words, "is living the dream" and her debut album, entitled Faryl, is already enjoying rapid sales. Her record company, Universal Classics and Jazz, shipped 80,000 copies to the shops – putting it in contention to rival U2's latest offering No Line On The Horizon in the British album charts.
